Instructor Station
The role of instructors in simulator training cannot be overestimated. The
instructor station incorporated in Transas simulators provides the instructor
with all the necessary tools for the efficient generation, editing, managing and
assessing of training exercises. Capabilities:
- Integrated application for creating, editing, explaining the trainee
mission, exercise fulfilment and debriefing;
- High accuracy data presentation on the basis of vector charts (able to
automatically load all the charts referring to the selected gaming area);
- Multi-lingual user interface (English, Russian, Japanese);
- Creation of exercises and automatic competency assessment scenarios;
- Control of simulator session(s);
- Continuous automatic recording of data in the course of the exercise (main,
audio and video log files);
- Real, slow and fast time modes;
- Able to display a track in the form of a succession of contours (Track mode)
and to set the track prediction mode (Trend mode) for all the exercise objects
(Global settings) and for one object (Local settings);
- Weather conditions manager.
Greatly improved instructor capabilities
The instructor station has been supplemented with a number of new features:
Graphic presentation of ship motion parameters
Advanced research capabilities and comprehensive debriefing. The feature is important for pre-job training when trainees are not familiar with the type of vessel.
|
|
Customisable toolbar
Customisable toolbar will suit Instructor preferences. New user-friendly interface provides one-click access to high-usage commands
|
|
Dynamic ruler
Online monitoring of bearings and ranges between all exercise objects
|
Horizontal depth cross-sections
Allows Instructor to evaluate depths, helping to get a clear presentation of the deep-water routes in this area or to obtain information on danger shoals and banks.
|
|
Graphic presentation of CPA/TCPA
At his own workplace Instructor can obtain real-time on-chart plotting of the relative position of vessels, their CPA ant TCPA, which are continually recalculated in order to consider any change in speed or course of any of the marked vessels.
|
|
Flexible ERBL placement
ERBL is available both as an Instructor tool, and as an object that can be set in any moment of the exercise and attached to any object, allowing to maintain constant observation of desired range or bearing parameter.
|
Comprehensive adjustment of environmental settings
Control of wind wave, swell, sea colour, celestial bodies etc. to create more realistic scenario. Now it is possible to edit sea transparence, underwater visibility, and set user-defined wave spectrum.
|
|
Convenient management of navigational lights
Allows Instructor to access and manage easily any available navigation light or shape on any vessel in the exercise. Lights can be switched on and off in just one click, failures of the lights can also be set by Instructor.
|
|
Total control of instructor viewpoint
Camera can be attached to any standard viewpoint at a vessel (be it bridge, port or starboard wing or stern), bringing flexible control to each exercise. Standard settings can be adjusted allowing assigning camera virtually to any desired point.

In addition to the described above, the following features also make Instructor life much easier:
- Global scale factor for all current fields
- Night vision mode for the instructor and bridge CCTV cameras
- Capability to attach a camera and SART to the life raft
- Implementation of the new TEAS rule (CPA/TCPA) allowing to assess all targets with given criteria regarding selected ship
- Enhancement of the route properties
- Enhancement of virtual force properties
- Capability to create “virtual force report”
- New ice type (Nilas ice)
- Capability to set the duration of tracks and trends up to 90 minutes
- Capability to save environmental condition settings as a template and to load previously saved template in any exercise and area
- Display of wind and current diagram (set of vectors above a ship hull)
- Capability to move own ship during exercise fulfillment without ship grounding and collision
- Capability to weigh anchor immediately from the instructor station
- Capability to use ‘Enter’ key on the keyboard instead of pressing ‘Apply’ button
- A path to the last folder the exercise was saved or opened in is saved
- The ship visible contours are not lost when the instructor zooms in a specific area
