According to the IHO Presentation Library such soundings are not shown on an ECDIS screen when utilizing the "Standard" and "Base" Display modes. To have these soundings shown, the ECDIS display should be switched to "Custom" mode and the "spot soundings" layer should be switched on.

The Transas Navi-Sailor ECDIS software generates automatic anti-grounding alarms in voyage planning (check route) and monitoring modes for (S)ENC's, in spite of the fact that such soundings are not shown in ECDIS standard and base display.

This does not affect Transas TX-97 charts produced from paper sources since such shoals are always depicted as obstructions and are always displayed. However, this could affect TX-97 charts converted from official ENCs.

Bright paperless navigation perspectives for Statsraad Lehmkuhl

February 2010 – Being one of the most beautiful sailing vessels, Statsraad Lehmkuhl is now becoming the most up-to date in terms of navigational safety.

The GPA VTS system allow operators to visualise and interact with all marine traffic within the Area of Responsibility by bringing together subsystems including Radar, Automatic Identification System (AIS), Electro Optical (or CCTV), VHF Communications (including Radio Direction Finding and Digital Selective Calling), Hydro Meteorological Data, Port Information System (a database including Vessels, Visits, Operations, Weather Log and Electronic Logbook) and Track/Audio Recording and Playback.

All of these services are fully integrated through a set of VTS system servers and presented to the operators in a new state‐of‐the‐art dual workplace control room located within the GPA office situated on the North Mole in the port of Gibraltar.

The VTS system selected by the GPA is based upon Transas Navi-Harbour VTMIS solution – one of the most popular VTMIS systems on the market, which is already in demand, among others, by Cyprus Ministry of Merchant Marine, Armed Forces of Malta as well as Kenya Ports Authority.

More than 150 other successful shore-based installations have been completed by Transas over the last 15 years. Transas is trusted as an experienced and reliable partner with a proven track record in delivering monitoring, surveillance and vessel traffic management systems in time, within budget and to the highest standard.

The Port of Gibraltar occupies a uniquely important strategic location at the intersection of Atlantic and Mediterranean shipping lanes – one of the world's busiest shipping routes (some 110,000 ships transit the Gibraltar Strait each year). The Port handles 10% of these vessels, providing bunkering, crew changes, provisions and ship spares. It also has repair and dry dock facilities and hull cleaning afloat capability. The Gibraltar Port Authority (GPA) oversees all operations at the Port including responsibility for Search and Rescue and coastguard operations within British Gibraltar Territorial limits. It's most important functions are Safety of Navigation, Counter Pollution, security and monitoring of all marine activities. The Port has a thriving leisure market being a leading passenger destination as well as being a centre for yachts touring the Mediterranean.

Transas is currently working on two VTS projects in Morocco, in ports of Agadir and Nador. After thorough consideration Agence National des Ports (ANP) entrusted Transas, in partnership with SOREMAR Group, to bring these projects in life.

VTS systems supplied by Transas will enable operators to monitor all vessels' activities in the area by immediate and exact representation of situation on the consoles. Having the most accurate information at the tip of their fingers, operators are able to react quickly and handle all port activities in a most efficient way. The scope of supply in each port includes a high performance Radar, 2 CCTV System, a Communications System with 3 VHF and 1 HF stations, AIS Base station, Direction Finder and Weather Station.

The Port of Agadir lies on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and is the main gateway and point of export for goods from South Morocco. As Morocco's fourth busiest commercial port, it is a bustling affair and thrives from the rich fisheries off the Moroccan Atlantic coast. The Port of Nador lies on the northeastern shores of Morocco facing the Mediterranean Sea and is a ferry gateway to Europe.

Together with Soremar Group, Transas has already supplied and commissioned three VTS installations in Morocco in the ports of Mohammedia, Tanger and Jorf Lasfar.

Several months ago Transas completed an installation of VTS system in Khalifa Bin Salman Port, Bahrein. The project was initiated by Aeradio Technical Services W.L.L. for APM Terminals – provider of port and terminal management and operational expertise, which serves over 60 container shipping line customers.

Technically the solution is based on 2 radars, AIS Base station, Weather Station, 3 VHF Stations and DSC messages server.

All equipment is integrated into one multifunctional solution, which fulfills following tasks:

Provides navigation in Port's responsibility zone

Gathers statistical data about vessels

Prepares reports for Port's financial services as a base for charging them for Port operations (mooring, towing etc.)

Plans vessel's entering

Monitors situation in the Port (a number of vessels in the Port, their status and location)

All VTS systems mentioned above are based upon Transas Navi-Harbour solution – the system which has already established a good reputation by reliably serving the busiest ports in every corner of the world for years.

Transas is well-known for satisfying customers through the provision of high-end solutions and adopting a professional approach at every stage of the project, starting from the design phase to post implementation support.

Transas China supplies a vessel traffic system to China Ministry of Transportation

February, 2010, China –Transas China and The Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China signed contract for the supply, installation and commissioning of a Navi-Monitor system.
